Introduction
Korean cosmetics have become very popular in Turkey in recent years, and with them the number of products sold without an invoice and sometimes as counterfeits has grown. This guide explains how to recognise a genuine product and where it is safer to buy.
1. What does "official distributor" mean?
It is the company a brand authorises to sell its products in Turkey. An official distributor imports directly from the manufacturer and takes on the legal duties in Turkey (product notification, label information, complaints and recalls). That largely removes the risk of counterfeits.
2. Which brands does K-LAB distribute?
K-LAB Cosmetic is the official distributor in Turkey for Rivecowe, Natinda, Plc-Atticos, Patch Holic, Dermarssance and Beautyway. Orders placed on klabcosmetic.com ship with an invoice and come with a 14-day right of withdrawal.
3. What to watch for on marketplaces
Many sellers may list the same product on a marketplace. Some are parallel importers: even if the product is genuine, you may run into problems with invoices or finding someone responsible. Others sell counterfeits. For K-LAB brands, we recommend buying on marketplaces only from K-LAB's official store (the "K-LAB" seller on Trendyol).
4. How to spot a fake
- Registration: cosmetics sold in Turkey are notified to TİTCK and have a responsible person in Turkey. An official seller should be able to tell you who the importer is.
- Batch number and date: the production or expiry date and the batch (lot) number should be legible on the pack.
- Packaging: blurry print, crooked labels, a different font or a missing seal are warning signs.
- Price: prices far below the market usually mean something is wrong.
- Seller: check which sellers the brand lists for Turkey on its own website.
5. A short checklist for safe shopping
For K-LAB brands: klabcosmetic.com or K-LAB's Trendyol store. For other Korean brands: the authorised sellers the brand lists for Turkey, or large beauty chains. Either way, ask for an invoice.
Frequently asked questions
Are Korean products at beauty chains genuine?
Large chains usually buy from authorised distributors, so they are safe channels. The range may be limited depending on the brand.
Is the product I saw on a marketplace genuine?
Check whether the seller is authorised by the brand. For K-LAB brands, the official K-LAB store on Trendyol is safe; we cannot vouch for other sellers.
What happens if I use a fake?
A product with unknown contents carries a risk of irritation, allergy and infection. Do not use a product you suspect; if you react, see a dermatologist.
Is buying from the official distributor more expensive?
Not always. Parallel imports can look cheaper but carry risks around invoices and returns. At K-LAB, once signed in, you can use the code WELCOME10 once on full-price items totalling ₺500 or more.
How much is shipping?
Shipping is free on orders of ₺1,500 or more; below that it costs ₺150.
